This Privacy Policy governs your use of our services.

1. Collection of Personal Information

At evident, our work centers on conneting you with the options for the right legal help based on your needs. A critical part of this process is collecting information from users of our website. In addition to general information about your legal needs, evident may collect information about you and your use of our services, including: (a) Personally identifiable information, such as your e-mail address, name, physical address, telephone number, employment information, billing address, and credit card; (b) Anonymous demographic information, such as your Postal Code, age, gender, and preferences; (c) Information about your computer hardware and software, such as your IP address, browser type, domain names, access times, operating system, cookie information, referring website addresses, and Internet Service Provider; and (d) Information on your use of our website, such as pages visited, links clicked, text entered, and mouse movements.

2. Use of Personal Information

evident collects and uses your personal information to deliver the help you request, and to improve our services and website.

Information about general users. As part of the process for identifying and connecting you with the right legal help, we may share your personal information with law firms and service providers. When you provide us with answers to our questionnaires, we use your answers to find attorneys near you who practice the type of law your issue requires and you provide those answers with the understanding that the information provided will be shared with attorneys who might be available to assist you. Your individual responses to the questionnaires will be treated as confidential and only shared with those potential attorneys we have found for you. However, no attorney-client relationship will have been formed unless and until you speak with an attorney, come to terms, and employ that attorney to assist you.

Information about attorney users. When you register as an attorney member or subscribe to any of our services, we collect a wide variety of information about you, such as your name, your location, contact information, your professional education and history, what type of legal services you offer, whether you offer payment plans, etc. Attorney users provide us with answers to our questions concerning themselves, their location, their state bar membership and their areas of legal practice, and other personal and professional information about themselves, including but not limited to a photograph, which we then post to an attorney profile. These attorney profiles will be publicly available, capable of being viewed by other users and visitors to the site. Attorney profiles are presented to potential clients who have come to the site and utilized the services seeking an attorney. To process the purchase of an attorney membership, we require your name, address, phone number, email address, banking information, and debit card or credit card information. Such information is used to process your membership payment(s). Debit card and credit card transactions are processed through industry standard Secure Socket Layer (SSL) and/or strong encryption (3DES) mechanisms by a third party, Stripe, Inc., which only uses your information solely for that purpose. evident may also use your personally identifiable information to inform you of other products or services available from evident and its affiliates. evident may also contact you to participate in surveys to conduct research about your opinion of current services or of potential new services that may be offered.

We use aggregated or anonymized information for remarketing with Google Analytics, for ad targeting, to analyze trends, to administer our services, to improve customer service, to diagnose problems with our servers, to track user movement, and to gather demographic information for aggregate use. Users can opt out of some advertising features by visiting Google or the NAI consumer opt-out page. We may freely publish, disclose and use aggregated or anonymized data to or with third parties.

We use personal information to facilitate your use of our services, to provide you with information, products and services you request, to administer and assist us with the operation of our business, and for the purpose for which the information was provided. In the event that we engage with third party service providers in connection with our Services, we may share personal information with such service providers who need access to such information to carry out their work for us. We do not disclose, rent, sell or otherwise make available your personal information to third parties for direct marketing purposes. If you connect with evident through a third party (e.g., your employer, an organization of which you are a member, or an organization from which you sought assistance), evident may share information about your use of our services with the third party to help them understand how people they connect with us make use of our services or to enable them to further assist you or to provide you with their products and/or services.

evident may disclose personal information when we are required to or we believe it is appropriate to comply with the law (e.g., a lawful subpoena, warrant or court order); to enforce or apply this privacy policy or our other policies or agreements; to initiate, render, bill, and collect for amounts owed to us; to protect our or our users’ rights, property or safety; to protect our users from fraudulent, abusive, or unlawful use of our services; or if we believe that an emergency involving the danger of death or serious physical injury to any person requires or justifies disclosure of personal information. Moreover, information about our customers, including personal information, may be disclosed as part of any transaction or sale in which personal information could be transferred to third parties as one of evident’s assets.

3. Attorney-Client Communications

All privileged information provided to evident or shared on evident's attorney-client messaging board remains private and confidential between attorneys and clients unless they elect to share it with others outside of evident. Specifically, while we have and retain access to messages exchanged between attorneys and clients and potential clients using the evident messaging system, those communications are maintained as confidential and protected by evident’s data security measures.

4. Use of Cookies

We use cookies and other similar technologies, such as web beacons, pixels, and mobile identifiers. We may also allow our business partners to use these tracking technologies, or engage others to track your behavior on our behalf. You may accept or decline cookies. However, we do not change our practices in response to a “Do Not Track” signal in the HTTP header from your browser or mobile application.

5. Security

evident strives to secure your personal information from unauthorized access, use or disclosure. Our services are built on platforms that incorporate the latest encryption and security devices. However, no data transmission is guaranteed to be 100% secure and we therefore cannot guarantee the security of information you transmit to or from evident. Accordingly, we disclaim liability for the theft, loss, or interception of, or unauthorized access or damage to, your data or communications by using the site, applications, and our services. By using our services, you acknowledge that you understand and assume these risks.

6. Age Restrictions

Our services are intended for and directed to adults. Yu must be 18 years old to use our services, and we do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 18.

7. U.S. Only

Our services are operated from within the United States and intended for users located domestically. If you are located outside of the U.S., please be aware that information we collect will be transferred to, processed, stored and used in the U.S. in accordance with U.S. law, and may be subject to access requests from U.S. government agencies.
